ZELLIGES TILES
Zelliges are special tiles because of their handmade appearance.
What makes Zellige so special? Zellige has a mixture of different characteristics that make the tile unique. In Fez, Morocco, a special type of clay is used that can only be found there. Zelliges are formed by hand from this clay and dried in the sun. The tiles are then glazed with the most beautiful colors and baked in olive pit ovens. Depending on where the tile is in the oven, the color will differ slightly. The tiles are then cut to their shapes by hand one by one. The process is done with expertise and love and the old-fashioned way.
